What to include in your requirement
- Variety and grade
- Name the fruit, variety, intended use and required grade.
- Size and maturity
- State calibre or count per carton and the ripeness required on arrival.
- Packing and volume
- Specify net weight, carton type, pallet configuration and weekly or monthly quantity.
- Route and handling
- Give the destination, delivery window, cold-chain requirements and required inspection documents.

Compare fresh fruit offers on the same basis
A generic product name can conceal differences in pack, quality and arrival condition. Complete the buyer column once, then ask suppliers to confirm the same fields and mark any exceptions.
- Variety and origin
- Name the variety and any acceptable alternative origins.
- Size and count
- Record the calibre or count range and net carton weight.
- Maturity and arrival
- Define the ripeness required at destination and the inspection point.
- Defect tolerance
- Agree measurable tolerances for bruising, decay and other defects.
- Handling and transit
- Confirm commodity-specific handling conditions, transit time and temperature evidence.
