The calculation, openly stated
Total included cost = goods + origin costs + freight + insurance + inspection + destination costs + duty + non-recoverable taxes + other costs.
Expected usable kg = net shipment kg × (1 − expected unsaleable percentage ÷ 100).
Cost per usable kg = total included cost ÷ expected usable kg.
Example only: 20,000 kg with AED 100,000 of included costs and 2% unsaleable weight gives 19,600 usable kg and about AED 5.10 per usable kg. This is a mathematical illustration, not a market price or expected loss rate.
Keep the cost boundary consistent
If freight is already included in the supplier’s invoice, do not add it again. Record the Incoterm and named point for each offer, and list costs excluded by the seller. ICC explains that Incoterms® allocate specified costs, obligations and risks; the chosen term changes the comparison boundary. Read ICC’s official overview.
No duty, tax, exchange rate or recovery entitlement is assumed. Enter confirmed amounts for the shipment and seek appropriate customs or tax advice where needed. Use one currency throughout; selecting a currency label does not convert figures. Recoverable tax can affect cash flow even when excluded from an economic cost estimate.
